Voice of sathyanathan

Voice of Sathyanathan is Dileep's comeback film after a long hiatus. The film is a family entertainer with slapstick humor and comic mannerisms, which are a staple of Dileep's earlier films. The laughter in cinemas is a reminder that people still enjoy that kind of comedy.

Dileep plays Sathyanathan, a fraud antique vendor who is often at loggerheads with his neighbor Tabla Varkey (Siddique). Varkey gets angry whenever he sees Sathyanathan, who he believes has ruined his reputation. His cartoonish disposition and frequent visits to the hospital after a "duel" with Sathyanathan are both funny.

The narrative takes an interesting turn when Sathyanathan, who often gets into trouble because of his foul mouth, unleashes a string of abuses on the panchayat president played by Johny Antony. This is what sets the rest of the story in motion.

The movie has a well-balanced first and second half, which is something that has been lacking in recent films. The script, which was written by the director himself, also keeps the viewer engaged.

Joju George gives a brilliant performance as a prisoner who is awaiting his fate after being accused of killing at least 50 people, including his wife. The intensity of his role and performance elevates certain poignant scenes. Jagapathi Babu, Makarand Deshpande, and Anupam Kher are all perfectly cast, making the film more intriguing. Veena Nandakumar and Sminu Sijo also do a good job in their respective roles.

While the film does give limited screen time to its female stars, it is nonetheless a winner.

Here are some additional points that I would like to add:

  • The film is a timely social commentary on the importance of speaking out against injustice.
  • The performances by the entire cast are top-notch.
  • The film is a must-see for fans of Dileep and Malayalam cinema.
